Warsong Dusk was always a lively time of day for ShadowClan. Cats were sharing tongues, patrols were coming and going, kits were getting into trouble and Elders were telling stories. Warsong stretched near the entrance to the Warrior's Den, then walked out into the Clearing to greet Stormcry as he was passing by with a frog dangling from his clenched jaws. The older warrior set the prey down to exchange pleasantries with her before settling down to eat. Warsong knew better than to eat now, though. She'd had guard duty that morning and had eaten after before getting some well deserved sleep. Now that she was up, it was time to get back to work. Hunting sounded like a good idea, but she needed to find another patrol of warriors.

Snakefang had patroled the boards for most of the afternoon, and then took up space by the Stump to lie in one of the few patches of sunlight that reached the camp. He must have dozed off, because when he awoke, he was lying on his back and shivering from the mild breeze ruffling his white belly fur. Rolling onto this paws he stretched luxuriously, all legs, with his tail arching wide over his back and fangs bared in a yawn. He sniffed around, but it seemed Foxstar had just turned in for the night. He padded over and sniffed at the fresh-kill pile, before dipping his head to Stormcry, who placed a frog there. It was looking low. Maybe he should go hunting. I haven't gone in a while. He reminded himself, scolding. He was the deputy! His first duty was to his clan. Scanning the clearing with his icy eyes and spotted Warsong looking about curiously and padded over to her. "Something you need help with?" Snakefang as the she-cat goodnaturedly, hoping to help. He hadn't been deputy long, and felt he still needed to prove himself. I'll hunt after I help her. He thought.

Warsong The one group of warriors she'd caught on their way out already had too many to take her along and they were on border patrol duty. Luckily, just as she went to look for another group, someone came up to her instead. Warsong dipped her head to her Clan's Deputy, Snakefang, respectfully as he walked over asking her if she needed help. "Actually, I was trying to find a patrol to hunt with," she answered, "I had guard duty earlier in the morning, but I've slept since then and need something to chase. Sometimes just stretching just doesn't do it, you know?" Her tail flicked in anticipation, only punctuating her need to move around.

Snakefang kneaded his paws into the ground. "I know how you feel. I was just thinking about heading out myself. I could join you?" He flicked his tail happily, wanting to get to know Warsong. They'd never really talked before, but as Deputy, he should know every cat in his clan. He scanned the clearing for any other cats to come with them, though he couldn't see any. "It might just be us this evening... But we could wait and see if anyone else wants to come?" He peered back at Warsong, icy blue eyes friendly and ears perked. He'd been itching to get out of camp after his nap. If he was lucky they could find some nice prey to bring back. Then maybe the clan would see he was a good deputy. He always worried, with all his faults as a warrior- loosing Cherryfur and Laughingpaw to Duskstar- that they would never see him as a good deputy.

When Snakefang offered to join her, her heart leaped in her chest, she was too used to keeping to herself, her mother, and Stormcry, and often felt the need to reach out to others in her Clan. Even if she figured it was simply his duty to know the cats in his Clan, Warsong did feel a little better knowing the first cat she might reach out to was her Deputy. He noted it might just be them this evening and Warsong worried about that too. There had to be others that weren't busy or resting that could join them. All the same she didn't want to feel like she was wasting his time. She glanced about the camp before meeting his gaze, his frosty eyes mirroring her own. "I'd hope others would like to join us, we'd be able to catch more between more than two cats, but I'm ready to go if you are."

Snakefang nodded to her, glancing around, his tail flicking. The only other cat in the clearing was Mothfern, laying in a spare patch of sunlight, her ginger-cream dappled fur rising and falling slowly. "We could...erm..." He trailed off, thinking about how relucant a hunter Mothfern was. She should get out of camp and hunt for once, and if he could remember right, she didn't hunt the day before, but he didn't really want to put up with her complaints and fire this evening. "What do you think?" He asked Warsong, flicking his ears sheepishly. He shouldn't be so abashed, he was deputy after all, but only for a few moons. The ache of Echostar's death could still be felt in some places. He looked back to Mothfern, trying to muster some resolve. Maybe Warsong would rather go without her. That would make life easier.
